SUMMER! It’s what we work for at Kidcam 365, 24/7. 10, maybe 12 if we’re lucky, “carefree” weeks of a little more freedom, no homework, late days and CAMP!
We love summer time at Kidcam. It’s like getting the band back together each year. Our close family of directors, counselors and legendary campers coming back to their summer ‘home’, where they, too, breathe a little easier and have a LOT more fun. It’s a time to celebrate the sun, play in the water and make amazing memories.
My favorite thing when I visit a camp is to high five our returning campers, whom I love seeing each summer, and welcome our newest Rockstars with a good ‘ole Kidcam fist bump (and show them my ever-growing Rockstar Band.)
It’s so special for us to have this time with your children to watch them grow in a different way. I always say that at Kidcam, campers are able to get our of their school bubble. They have to meet new friends, listen to different leaders, try things that might scare them, explore exciting places, and test themselves in new ways.
Summer Camp is a time and place to be yourself. Hunt for rocks. Play endless games of Foursquare. Get wet (especially at 3pm when it decides to rain at carpool). Make up new rules to UNO. Focus on nature. Sit on a park bench and just chill. Run. Have fun! And I always say, “stay safe, play with your heart and go fly.” Spread your wings and explore, but be mindful of those around you, and try and stay present, and enjoy the day. Because before we know it, it’s the first Friday in August, and we are signing each others shirts, and saying goodbye to our summer friends.
We work so hard to plan the most perfect, safe and memorable summer for our campers, staff and you. But before we know it, we’re packing away our Red Kidcam Shirts, using the last of our sunscreen bottles and carefully watching for the ever-growing location of School Zone Cameras as we start back to school…(yes, I got busted the first day they were back in business.)
So, THANK YOU, parents & grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends, for letting us be present with your children this summer. Entrusting Kidcam as your summer place, where your kids make memories, have fun and can’t wait to return next summer.
We are already busy planning for some very exciting additions to the Kidcam Way for 2020, where we bring back some favorite traditions, enhance our ever-growing curriculum and Kid’s Choice programs, and find new ways to ensure you always think Kidcam when you think Summer.
I read a blog post this month on ways to help our children stay mindful, during, what we call at Kidcam, the “off-season.” I wanted to share it with you. As I think about all of our children getting back into their busy school year, finding new pressures, possibly being a little stressed, this article helped me breathe a little easier. I want to find ways that we can continue to incorporate some of the “chill” moments of Summer, as we ramp up into the busy days of Fall.
