Letter from the Owner

Thank you for visiting the KIDCAM® franchising website.

We believe our KIDCAM® franchise offers an excellent opportunity for those with a background in education, child care or parenting to be part of an exciting venture – one that focuses on providing a safe, structured and creative summer day camp environment for children, and at the same time provides an invaluable service to parents who often struggle to find wholesome activities for their children during the summer months.

The KIDCAM® franchise concept has its foundation in a comprehensive summer day camp solution for parents who desire a well-structured day camping experience for their children.

The KIDCAM® franchise model is built around a mission and goal to promote children’s physical, social and educational well being in a safe, fun-filled camp environment.

It is a mission and goal we hope you’d like to share, as a potential KIDCAM® franchise owner.

We have prepared this website so you can learn more about the KIDCAM® opportunity. If the idea of becoming the owner of a KIDCAM® franchise is appealing to you, why don’t you fill out the Preliminary Information Sheet and return it to us? If it appears as though we would be a good “fit” together, we will call to schedule a meeting.

We appreciate your interest in our KIDCAM® franchise and look forward to hearing from you soon. Should you have any questions regarding this franchise opportunity, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Mario Bazile

In the Beginning: About the Founders

For more than 35 years, the KIDCAM® story has been one of many happy beginnings and endings. The KIDCAM® program was founded by Jim Stubbs whose extensive educational background and genuine devotion to children have consistently guided and directed his actions to excellence. Jim opened the first KIDCAM® in New Orleans followed by a second some 17 years later. Realizing the KIDCAM® concept had remarkable potential, he continued to expand and open new camps. Jim’s leadership and direction helped shape the KIDCAM® philosophy, while Mario Bazile has taken over as owner of the KIDCAM® enterprise.

Prior to taking the helm, Mario worked for KIDCAM® in a wide variety of posts, from counselor in training to camp director. With a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education, an eight-year tenure as a teacher at the prestigious Isadore Newman School, four years as an assistant principal and over 17 years of summer camp training, Mario knows and understands children and the complexities of organizing and running a successful summer camping program.

Today, a total of 14 KIDCAM® summer camps are in operation throughout South Louisiana, providing a safe, wholesome and exciting summer program for its campers, age 3 to 13.

The KIDCAM® concept is growing rapidly in popularity for its structured, enriching and fun programs.

In addition, the KIDCAM® founders have developed a proprietary software program that makes the running of a summer camp much easier! State-of-the-art software/web integration helps with everything from scheduling for parents and children, for Director to staff, and for franchisee reporting.

And now, Mario would like to share his knowledge and experience with you, as a potential member of the KIDCAM® franchise family.

Additional Information

Safe and Happy Campers

The KIDCAM® concept of a comprehensive week day summer day camp experience for children age 3 to 13 has delighted happy campers and their parents for more than 35 years.

KIDCAM® franchisees operate a KIDCAM® day camp for boys and girls, a program that offers a wide variety of activities, both on KIDCAM® camp sites and during off-site field trips to zoos, aquariums, basketball clinics and a myriad of other indoor and outdoor venues. In addition, KIDCAM® camp locations offer before and after camp child care services, as well as related services and products.

Typically, a KIDCAM® day camp operates at a main campus location owned by an independent third party. Main campus camp locations are often within school or park facilities. The KIDCAM® location model is simple – franchisees lease schools, playgrounds or country club facilities and set up the KIDCAM® program for a six to eight week period. This model makes for a winning scenario for all involved; KIDCAM® franchisees do not need to pay for a year-round location and facilities receive funds for leasing grounds that would otherwise be vacant during summer months.

Simply put, KIDCAM® franchises are a “go to” summer center where for a roughly six to eight week period during the summer children can experience a structured, yet relaxing atmosphere and where parents can leave their children during the summertime week day knowing they will be given care and attention in a safe and stimulating environment.

It should be noted that KIDCAM® campers are encouraged to bring a bag lunch and snacks, but most KIDCAM® franchises can also offer the convenience of breakfast, lunch and snacks for an additional cost. Pre-paid food accounts allow parents to deposit funds in their campers’ account to be used for food purchases. Parents can track food purchase charges online and add funds as needed.

With a creative program that fosters a child’s socialization skills, the KIDCAM® model has been held in high esteem for more than 35 years. In fact, the KIDCAM® formula for successful summer camp programs speaks for itself – during the summer of 2008, over 2,500 campers enrolled in KIDCAM® camps.

And, for the potential franchisee who wonders, “Is it all about summer programs,” the answer is no. The holiday and sports camps can be run at other times than summer to generate more year-round revenue and even the cash flow.

Providing quality care, enrichment and interaction with other children – that is at the heart of the KIDCAM® franchise. Now that you’ve learned a bit more about this exciting and rewarding opportunity, this may be the time for you to prepare for the future as a KIDCAM® franchisee.

The Ideal KIDCAM® Franchisee

Have you ever thought about owning and operating a business of your own? Do you have a background in education or child care and now want to take your skills to another level of success? Are you currently a teacher or school principal? Do you have summers off and are looking for some extra income? Or, maybe you come from an entirely different background and are entrepreneurial in nature, seeking a chance to do something that makes a difference. Do you recognize the importance of providing those first steps of socialization to our most precious commodity – our children? Do you have the desire to be part of a grassroots industry that is vital to working families?

KIDCAM® franchise prospects may include an energetic individual or a team seeking to combine their experiences and talents. There are a number of people who could be ideal franchisees. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals who want to become part of the important child care industry.

Our ideal KIDCAM® franchisee is someone who:
• Has a background in education or child care
• May be a teacher or school administrator
• May be an entrepreneur or business person seeking a different career direction
• Has summers off from work
• May have franchise experience
• May currently own a franchise that deals directly with schools
• Has good time management skills
• Has high energy
• Is a self-starter
• Is hard-working
• Is resourceful
• Is motivated
• Is looking for a successful opportunity
• And, of course, loves children!

Franchising and how it Works

One question potential franchisees sometimes ask is, “Why should I buy a franchise? Why can’t I just go out and start my own business?” Certainly, some people do enter the business world in that manner. So, what is the real value of purchasing a franchise rather than “going it alone”?
On your own, you might well experience a large “learning curve.” What are the right types of publications to advertise in? What types of promotions provide the best return? Are there collateral materials, like pamphlets, that I should consider? Without the professional training, business experience, or connections it takes to succeed, it is difficult to get off the ground. Many small business owners begin by hiring outside individuals with experience just for advice. Let’s face it. Opening your own business independently takes time and money.
That isn’t to say that franchising doesn’t require time and money, also. However, as a franchisee, you enjoy a number of advantages that a stand-alone, independent start-up does not. You begin with the accumulated experience, know-how, business practices and operating plan that come with a franchise.
As a franchisee, you enjoy name-brand recognition and a network of support provides an immediate and distinct competitive edge over the independent, stand-alone business. You can avoid that costly trial-and-error period that causes so many problems for start-up businesses. As a franchisee, you’ll “hit the ground running.”
In addition, with the KIDCAM® franchising opportunity, you reap the benefits of systems that have been designed with franchisee ease in mind. In particular, our proprietary software program will take hours of worrying and guessing out of scheduling, reporting and the day-to-day tasks that, while critically important, can be time-consuming without the proper system in place. As a KICAM® franchisee, you can rely upon the founders for guidance and mentoring that will “show you the ropes” that they learned on their own.
The KIDCAM® opportunity gives you the ready-made framework within which to build a successful business. And while any good business opportunity has its “bottom line” in mind, our KIDCAM® family is equally interested in educating people about the importance of the program we have created – a program that puts children first…and foremost.
Each year, more than $800 billion in goods and services are sold through franchises in the United States. There are over 550,000 individual franchise outlets nationally, and each working day, a new franchise opens every five minutes.
You could be a part of this growth story — as a member of our KIDCAM® franchise experience.

Do I need business experience to run a KIDCAM® franchise?

Prior experience in the education or child care industries is helpful to running a KIDCAM® franchise. However, the opportunity is an excellent one for an entrepreneur/business person who is just looking for a change in career and may never have set foot in a classroom. It’s a unique business so we encourage you to check it out! The KIDCAM® opportunity is suited for resourceful, motivated individuals or teams who share our priority of providing a structured weekday summer camping experience. We provide the business plan and model for success and then continue to be there for our franchisees through ongoing support services, guidance and software that assist with time-tracking and operational consistency.

Where should I locate my business?

Presently, we are looking to open KIDCAM® franchises in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama and Georgia. KIDCAM® franchisees typically run their program on public/private school grounds, playgrounds or from country club facilities.

What is the initial franchise fee?

The initial franchise fee is $15,000 for the right to operate a single KIDCAM® day camp location and $30,000 for the right to operate three camps. KIDCAM® franchisees benefit from a number of start-up and ongoing services, including the KIDCAM® trademark and systems, copyrighted handbooks and forms, marketing programs and of course the goodwill of the public image created by our KIDCAM® name.

So, what do I receive in return for my investment?

In addition to the support of the franchisors, you get the benefits of not having to “go it alone” in a business. Many start-up businesses spend years trying to get their operations and systems in place and functioning efficiently. You get the experience of the founders and their ongoing support, plus their systems of operation, which is your ticket to “hitting the ground running.”

How is a KIDCAM® franchise different from other business opportunities?

The KIDCAM® franchise is based on providing socialization, security, creative challenge and fun to our most precious commodities – children. Now could be the time to take your own first steps into the future by becoming a KIDCAM® franchisee.

What do I do next?

Please take a few minutes, fill out the Preliminary Information Sheet attached below and send it to us. We will review it and, if you meet our criteria, call you to schedule a meeting.
